BMW confirmed today it will expand its agency sales model from MINI to the core BMW brand across Europe starting mid-2027, with AI running the connective tissue between digital channels, local retailers, test drives and aftersales. Dealers stay in the building — but BMW keeps the pricing, the customer data, and the wheel.

📰 Other Notable Stories

  • A dealer principal built her own compliance and F&I AI rather than wait for a vendor. Marina Letsios, who spent twenty-two years in car dealerships and rose to own her own stores, launched AI Assist with two products: Argus360, which contacts the store as a real customer would, by text, email, web form and, where state law allows, phone, and grades each interaction, and AiF&I, built because more than half of dealers run over four separate systems in the front office alone, according to CDK's 2026 Friction Points Study. • Conversica's CEO laid out how its Ignite tool hunts for money dealers are leaving on the table. Conversica's Ignite AI-native revenue tool is helping dealerships surface these opportunities throughout the sales and service lifecycle, such as loan expirations, lease maturities, payment swaps, internet leads, lapsed service customers, and open recalls. • Auto AI pushed its compliance platform onto phones. Auto AI has released its Radar compliance platform for iPhone and Android, adding notifications on the phones of everyone responsible for a store's advertising to the existing web dashboard. • Dealers are begging for their AI tools to actually talk to each other. In an Urban Science-Harris Poll survey of dealership executives released this year, 94% of respondents said they wished their tools worked together. They also desire technology that does more: 91% want tools that recommend proactive actions, and 84% want tools that act on their behalf. One Maryland dealer principal didn't wait around — Alex Perdikis, who owns Koons Motors in Maryland, built an agentic AI vehicle sourcing tool called inride, lifting several dealership metrics, including hours per repair order, customer satisfaction, gross profit and per-vehicle revenue. 💡 Tool Spotlight

Conversica Ignite — An AI-native revenue activation layer built for dealer groups. Executives say Ignite surfaces revenue opportunities embedded in dealer data — including owners nearing equity or lease milestones, declined service, lost service retention and overlooked F&I opportunities — and activates them through two-way, omnichannel customer conversations. It's built to operate across a dealer's existing DMS, CRM and communication channels without requiring system replacement.

Price: Ignite's standalone price isn't publicly listed, but independent pricing directories consistently estimate that Conversica starts at approximately $2,999 per month, although your actual investment can increase considerably depending on onboarding requirements, integrations, customization, and ongoing optimization. That's one half-deal of front-end gross, every month, before you close a single extra unit off it. Verify at conversica.com before you buy.

Who it's for: Multi-rooftop groups with clean DMS/CRM data and a BDC that can actually act on flagged opportunities same-day.

Who it's NOT for: A single store with messy, duplicate customer records — Ignite surfaces the opportunity, it doesn't fix the data mess underneath it. Garbage in, polished garbage out.

📊 Stat of the Day

Cox Automotive's AI in Auto Retail Tracker put dealership AI usage at 82% in the second quarter of 2026, and found 69% of dealers expected AI to drive sales and revenue growth, but only 22% of AI-using dealers had experienced that benefit. (Secondary source: this figure is reported via The Presidio Group's analysis, not Cox Automotive's own release — verify with Cox before you cite it to your GM.)

Plain dealer math: four out of five rooftops are running AI right now. One in five can actually point to a dollar it made them. That's not an adoption story — that's a show-rate story. You wouldn't let a BDC rep log a hundred calls a week and call it a win if none of them turned into an up. Same math applies here.

🔮 Trend Watch

Today's stories are really one story: everybody wants to own the brain of the dealership, and nobody agrees who should. BMW wants it at the OEM level, routing pricing and data through AI it controls. Conversica — now backed by Morgan Stanley's money — wants it as a layer sitting on top of your existing DMS and CRM. And at least one dealer principal decided she wasn't waiting for either and built her own "Dealer Brain" instead. Layer in the Urban Science-Harris stat that 94% of dealers just want their tools to talk to each other, and the picture is clear: the fragmentation dealers have tolerated for a decade is now the battleground every player — factory, vendor, and operator — is racing to win. Pick a side before someone else picks it for you.

Reading about AI won't train your team

The stores pulling ahead aren't the ones with the most tools — they're the ones whose people know how to use them. That takes a strategy, a readiness baseline, and real training.
